Jimmie Rodgers was one of the first country singers of the forties and fifties and was known as one of the father's of country music.
Hank Williams
lived every bit of his life and was very popular with his songs like "Cold Cold Heart", "Your Cheating Heart", "Jambalaya", and "There'll Be no Tears Tonight".
Johnny Cash was one of the first rockabilly stars of the fifties and he was made popular with the songs, "I Walk The Line", "Folsom Prison Blues", "A Boy Named Sue", and "Daddy Sang Bass" a hit by Carl Perkins and also many other super songs. was known to be a juvenile delinquent and was arrested many times for running away from school and also spent time in San Quentin prison for a robbery. Grand Ole Opry
in Nashville Tennessee. The Ryman Auditorium was the first home of the Grand Ole Opry show. Today it has moved but it was home to singers like Roy Acuff, Hank Williams,
Dolly Parton
and Merle Haggard. A new country singer is
Tim McGraw
and also his wife Faith Hill. Country music is King in Nashville and if you hear a song on the radio it was likely performed and recorded in downtown Nashville.
