In Dick Clark biography, he was born in Mount Vernon, New York on November 30, 1929. His real name was Richard Wagstaff Clark. He is best know as an American television entertainer. In 1952 he move to Philadelphia and worked as a disc jockey at radio station WFIL. He was full time host on July 9, 1956 of the show, "Bob Horn's Bandstand" when it was picked up by ABC and aired nationally on August 5, 1957.
It was at that time, the show became know as the "American Bandstand" and ran every day until 1963. Dick Clark introduced many black artists to the TV audiences. He also introduced
Connie Francis
to National television with her song titled, "Who's Sorry Now"? He also began the "American Music Awards" which was hosted by ABC, and targeted a younger age group than the Grammy Awards. From 1963, it became a TV show that played once a week until 1987. In 1972, he produced and hosted "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve". In Dick Clark biography, he produced the television series, "American Dreams". He has been married three times and has been married to his current wife, Karen Wigton since 1977. In 1976, he became an inductee in the "Hollywood Walk Of Fame". Dick Clark received Emmy awards in 1979, 1983, 1985 and 1986. In 1984, he hosted the series, "TV Bloopers" and also "Practical Jokes" which played till 1988. He was inducted into the
Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame
in 1993.
