Dixie Chicks (album release)

Beginning with the Dixie Chicks biography, they are a country music group that began singing in Dallas Texas in 1989.

When they were in their teenage years they toured throughout the USA, with the group, the "Bluenight Express".

The group began with two sisters, Emily and Martie Erwin and later Robin Lynn Macy and Laura Lynch joined up with them.

In 1997, they went to work for Monument records which had been the home of Roy Orbison and Dolly Parton and had reopened under the Sony label.

In 1998, they released, "Wide Open Spaces" which hit the top ten hit albums.

Continuing with the Dixie Chicks biography, in 2000, they won album of the year for, "Fly" from the Country Music Association.

In 2001, they won at the Academy of Country Music for, Vocal group of the year and entertainer of the year.

In October of 2001, the Dixie Chicks released the song, "I Believe In Love" after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the world trade towers in New York City.

In 2002, they won the American Music Award for favorite country album for "Home".

In 2003, they won the Grammy Award for best country album for "Home".

In 2003, many country radio stations stopped playing their songs after Natalie Maines criticized President Bush going to war with Iraq. She said, they were ashamed of Prsident Bush being from Texas. Many music buyers boycotted their music and they received many death threats.

Continuing with the Dixie Chicks biography, in 2005, they released the song, "Shelter From The Storm", following Hurricane Katrina and the profits went to benefit hurricane relief.

In 2005, they won the Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by a duo or group with Vocal for, "Top Of The World".

In 2006, they released the single, "Not Ready To Make Nice" which a few radio stations are beginning to play on the air after the boycott of 2003.

In May 2006, they released their fourth CD titled, "Taking the Long Way".

They have won nine Grammy Awards

In July 2006, they will begin touring the country on their Accidents and Accusations Tour.

In the summer of 2006 they had a hit with their album, Taking The Long Way.

They were very popular in the early nineties and it looks like they will become very popular in 2007. Most people really love them and they do a great show.
