Beginning with Ed Sullivan biography, he was born September 28, 1902 in New York City. He was an American entertainment writer and television host best know with the popular TV variety show, which became named after him and that played in the fifties till the early seventies. He was originally a newspaper columnist for the New York Daily News and also did broadcasts on radio. He was hired by the CBS in 1948 to do a weekly Sunday night show called, "The Toast of The Town" which in 1955 became know as "The Ed Sullivan Show". The show was broadcasted from the Ed Sullivan Theatre in New York City. He seemed to have little acting ability, and just named the performers and walked away, but somehow he seemed to fit the show as he appeared to the audience as an average guy. When segragation was very strong in the south of U.S.A., black singers were not welcome on TV or in most Restaurants that served whites only. Continuing with Ed Sullivan biography, he died October 13, 1974 and he is buried in the Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale New York. He had one Daughter with his wife Sylvia Weinstein whom he married in 1930.
