Elvis Presley history seventies continues, in December of 1970, Elvis Presley meet President Nixon at the White House. Elvis gave the President a Colt 45 and promised to help in the war on drugs.

In 1971, "I Really Don't Want To Know", hits the country charts.

In 1972, Elvis recorded the hit song, "Burnin' Love".

In February of 1972, Priscilla and her daughter Lisa Marie, left Elvis, for Mike Stone who was then a karate instructor.

An estimated one billion people tuned in as the Elvis TV special, "Elvis: Aloha from Hawaii" was broadcasted live from the satelite intelsat tv in 1973.

In March of 1973, Colonel Tom Parker sold Elvis's catalogue to RCA Records for about five million dollars.

All of his success could not keep him happy and his marriage fell apart.

Elvis Presley and Priscilla were divorced on october 9, 1973.

He was separated from his daughter Lisa Marie whom he truly loved and Elvis could not find another woman like Priscilla to fill his life with happiness.

Continuing with Elvis Presley history seventies, in 1975, he went on a shopping spree in Oaklahoma City and bought 14 Cadillacs, even giving one to a woman, who was window shopping at the car dealer.

Elvis-is-coming-to-Canada, rumours were rampant in 1975. RCA Record Tours did in fact check hotel and accommodations and transportation for a Canadian tour, but the tour never took place. Canada was one of the only places outside of United States that Elvis toured.

Accompanying him in most of his songs were The Jordanaires the vocal quartet which has appeared on so many of his hit records.

Elvis recorded his last hit, "Way Down" in his Graceland studio on October 29, 1976.

In June of 1977, he played at the Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiania and by that time Elvis had gained too much weight and his suits were way too tight on him, his singing was not up to his usual performances and he looked to be high on pills. That was his last public concert.

He was found dead the 16 of August at Graceland, in the Memphis, Tennessee mansion where he lived.

He was surrounded by an entourage of family and friends. The initial cause of death appeared to have been a heart attack from a drug overdose.

The morning after his death, nearly one hundred thousand fans were on Elvis Presley Boulevard.

His body was taken to a funeral parlour, placed in an open coffin, and he was dressed in the white suit his father had given him.

On the 18 of August, the Governor of Mississippi declared the day, an official day of mourning and flags in the state were flown at half mast in a sign of respect.

In Elvis Presley history seventies, it is recorded that an attempt was made to steal his body, from its burial place in Memphis, on October 2, 1977.

The family had the bodies of Elvis, and Gladys Presley moved to Graceland, where they were buried side by side.

His will appointed his father, as executor and trustee. The beneficiaries were Elvis's grandmother, his father and his child Lisa Marie Presley.

Elvis Presley history seventies continues, it was reported in February 2005, Lisa Marie Presley, sold her interest in the Elvis Estate. She still has 100 hundred percent of the Graceland mansion in Memphis, 13 acres of land, and all of Elvis's personal effects.

Elvis Presley Enterprises Inc. is now conducting the business and managing the assets. Lisa Marie Presley still has a 15 percent ownership in the company.
