The Everly Brothers biography, and Bye Bye Love.


Beginning with the Everly Brothers biography, their father Ike Everly got married to Margaret Embry on August 31, 1935.

Don Everly was born in Brownie, Kentucky on February 1, 1937.

Phillip was born in Chicago on January 19, 1939.

In Chicago Ike got work playing at clubs and the Honky-Tonks on Madison Street and also on Maxwell Street.

In 1945, he moved the Family to Shenandoah, Iowa where he got a job working at KMA Radio.

Don began performing on the radio, at the age of eight and Phillip began performing on the radio, at six years old.

Their mother Margaret sang with Ike. The Radio show was called the Everly Family Show.

In 1953 the Family moved to Knoxville, Tennessee and they all went to work at WROL Radio. They did two shows a day and were paid 90.00 a week, for the whole family.

Everly Brothers biography continues, on May 11, 1957 The Everly Brothers appeared on the Grand Ole Opry at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. They sang the Hit song, "Bye Bye Love".

On August 16, 1957 The Everly Brothers signed with Cadence Records and recorded, "Wake Up Little Suzie" which became a number one hit.

In 1958, they recorded, "All I Have To Do is Dream", which became their third million dollar hit song.

In 1960, the Everly Brothers signed with Warner Brothers Studios with the first million dollar contract in recording history. Their big hit was the single, "Cathy’s Clown".

In 1961, they both enlisted in the Marine Reserve and were released in 1962.

In 1962 they released the hit song, "Crying in the Rain" with Warner Brothers Studios.

In February of 1962, they appeared on the CBS Ed Sullivan Show. Continuing with the Everly Brothers biography, in 1973, they decided to go their separate ways, and it was not until 1983 that they began working together as a group.

In 1983, they performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London, England.

In 1984, the brothers released the single," On The Wings of A Nightingale" with Mercury Records and written by Paul McCartney of The Beatles.

In 1986, Time Magazine chose the Everly Brothers album, "Born Yesterday" as one of it’s top pop albums of the year.

Continuing with The Everly Brothers biography, in 1986 they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame.

In 1997, they received a lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy.
