There are many female country singers who have sung great songs, from the fifties till today. 
Some of the best known entertainers who are no longer with us but are still in our hearts are Tammy Wynette,

was born May 5, 1942 and she got married in 1959 at the age of seventeen.
June Carter Cash
was the daughter of Maybelle Carter and the wife of Johnny Cash. She married Johnny in 1968. She wrote the songs, "Jackson", "Ring of Fire" and "If I Was A Carpenter".
