Jerry Lee Lewis biography, released the hit, "Great Balls of Fire".


Beginning with Jerry Lee Lewis biography, he was born September 29, 1935 in Ferriday, Louisiana.

At the age of five, he began playing the piano at his aunt's home.

He listened to Hank Williams and Merrill Moore and was inspired by them.

He sang blues, gospel, country, and rock and roll music.

Continuing with Jerry Lee Lewis biography, in 1954, he sang his first two songs titled, "End of the Road" and "Crazy Arms".

In 1956, he signed up with Sun Record Studios in Memphis Tennessee. It was at the Sun Studio's that Elvis Presley, Roy Orbinson, Johnny Cash and Carl Perkins made their debut. His first recording was, "Crazy Arms".

In 1957, he released the hit single, "Whole Lot of Shakin' Going On".

In 1958, he got married to a thirteen old second cousin, Myra Gale Brown which caused a great scandal around the world. His tour was cancelled and his career nearly finished, but he came back stronger than ever a few years later.

In 1961, he recorded the single, "What'd I Say".

In 1964, he released an album titled, "Live at the Star Club, Hamburg" which he recorded with the Nashville Teens.

Continuing with Jerry Lee Lewis biography, in 1970, his wife Myra Gail divorced him because of his drinking and drug problems.

In 1973, his 19 year old son Jerry Lee Jr. was killed in a car accident.

In 1976, Jerry Lee was arrested at Elvis Presley's residence in Graceland, for saying to security guards that he had a gun and had come to kill Elvis Presley. It was supposed to be a joke but the guards did not know Elvis had invited Jerry Lee Lewis to visit him.

In 1986, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

In 1986, he recorded an album titled, "Class of '55" with Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and Carl Perkins.

Also in 1986, he checked into the Betty Ford Clinic to overcome an addiction to painkillers.

Continuing with Jerry Lee Lewis Biography, in 1989, he was profiled in a movie titled, "Great Balls of Fire" starring Dennis Quaid as Lewis and also with actors Alex Baldwin and Winona Ryder.

In 1993, Jerry Lee Lewis wrote and published his autobiography titled, "Killer" with the author Charles White.

In February of 2005, Jerry Lee was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Recording Academy.

It was called a craze, a fad which would die like other fads before it...and for a while the critics, the dissenters, appeared right, but only for a while.
