In Kitty Wells history, the first Queen of country music.

Beginning with Kitty Wells history, she was born Ellen Deason in Nashville, Tennessee on August 30, 1919.

She learned to play the guitar at the age of fourteen, with her father, Charles Cary Deason who worked for the Tennessee Central Railroad.

In 1935, Kitty and her sisters Mae And Jewel along with Bessie Choate, formed the group know as the Deason Sisters. They could be heard on the radio in Nashville in 1936.

In 1937, Kitty married Johnny Wright, who was from the group Johnny and Jack Anglin. Johnny's sister Louise was married to Jack.

In 1943, while they were playing on different radio stations Johnny Wright gave the name Kitty to Ellen. He got the name from a folk ballad entitled, "Sweet Kitty Wells".

In 1947, she recorded for RCA Records the gospel songs, "How Far is Heaven" and "Gathering Flowers" for the Master's Bouquet.

In 1952, Paul Cohen of Decca Records, asked Johnny Wright if Kitty would record the song, "It Wasn't God Who Made Honky Tonk Angels". Kitty Wells accepted and the Grand Ole Opry banned the song, because of the religion of the time, and she was not allowed to sing it on the radio, but almost overnight her Decca recording soared to the top with sales of over one million copies.

Continuing with Kitty Wells history, in 1948, Kitty and Johnny Wright became members of the Louisiana Hayride along with Colonel Buster Boss, Johnny Horton, Hank Williams Jim Reeves, and later on Elvis Presley.

In 1959, she signed with Decca Records and remained with them until 1975.

In the sixties, she released many songs such as "Heart Break USA, Left to Right" and "Unloved Unwanted".

In the early seventies, she recorded "Forever Young".

In 1979, Kitty and Johnny formed their own record company. It was called Ruboca Records. The name was made up of the two first letters of each of their three children first names.

Her daughters, Ruby and Sue, recorded for Cadence Records, using the name The Wright Sisters.

Her son, Bobby has made records with Decca Records and is also an actor, who played in the TV series McHale's Navy.

Kitty wells history continues, she was elected to the Country Music Hall Of Fame in 1976.

In 1983, she and Johnny opened the Family Country Museum in their hometown of Madison.

Kitty recorded her last solo song at the age of sixty with the song, "Thank You for the Roses".
