In Shania Twain biography, she is a Canadian singer.


Beginning with Shania Twain biography, she was born August 28, 1965 in Canada.

Her real name was Eileen Regina Edwards and her father's name was Clarence Edwards. The name Shania means, "I'm on my Way" in the Indian Ojibway language.

When she was two years old, her parents separated and her mother married Jerry Twain.

She went to live in Timmins, Ontario a mining town in northern Ontario and worked with her father, planting trees for a reforestation project.

In 1978, at the age of 13, she performed on the Tommy Hunter Show.

She listened to Willie Nelson, Tammy Wynette, and Dolly Parton on the radio.

Her parents died in an auto accident, when she was 21 years old. She took the responsibility of bringing up her brothers and sister.

She moved to Huntsville, Ontario with her two brothers and her sister.

A man who was touring the ressort, heard her playing and liked her music so much, he asked her to move to Nashville to record music.

She changed her name to Shania Twain in 1991, and she signed up with Mercury Records of Nashville.

She moved to Nashville and met Robert Lange, they got married in December of 1993.

In 1993, she released her album titled, "Shania Twain" with songs such as, "What Made You Say That", "Dance With The One That Brought You" and "Forget Me" and many other songs.

In 1995, she was selected as one of the most twenty five intriguing People of 1995 by People Magazine.

In 1996, she got her second hit with the song, "If You're Not In It For Love", "I'm Outta Here".

In 1998, she released the album, "Come on Over" which has sold over 30 million copies worldwide.

In 2003 she recorded the songs, "Forever and for Always", "Thank You Baby", and "When You kiss Me".

In 2003, she bought a house in New Zealand with her husband.

In 2004, she recorded the song, "Party for Two" which is available on her "Greatest Hits album 2004".

Shania has won Awards from the Country Music Association for entertainer of the year and Peoples Choice as the Favorite Female Artist.

She has also won the World Music Award for the best selling Country Artist, and many more Awards.
