In Tammy Wynette biography, she was born May 5, 1942 in Itawamba county, Mississippi.

Her real mane was was Virginia Wynette Pugh, but her record producer Billy Sherill, convinced her to change it to Tammy Wynette.

When she was seven she began working in the cotton fields with her father.

Her Father William Hollice Pugh died the 13th of February from a brain tumor.

Her Mother Mildred Russel help pay the bills by working in the fields, and also as a waitress and a substitue teacher.

Her Mother died in 1991. She had been married to a farmer from Mississippi since 1946, a few years after her first husband died.

She got married at the age of seventeen in 1959 and had two daughters Gwen and Jackie with her first husband who was unemployed most of the time.

She enrolled in a beauty school in Tupelo to learn makeup and hair dressing and other beauty tips.

Her Mother helped her to pay for her schooling and beauty courses. Tammy always kept her beauty licence up to date in case she had to go back into the same line of work.

When she passed her exams and got her beautician's license she moved to Birmingham, Alabama and gave birth to another daughter named Tina who was born prematurely.

She got a divorce soon after, moved to Nashville and recorded many songs with Epic Records.

She changed her name to Tammy and put released her first single in 1966, titled "Apartment No.9" which became a great sucess after a few months.

She released eleven Albums, which had many singles that became great hits.

She did a little acting on the TV in the series "Capitol" and also appeared with Burt Reynolds in the sitcom titled, "Evening Shade" and also the comedy "Married with Children".

She married George Jones in 1968 and she had one child named Tamela with him in 1970.

Survivors include, her husband George Richey and her five Daughters and one son and seven grandchildren.
