The Supremes

The Supremes biography began with, Diana Ross, Florence Ballard, Betty Mc Glown, and Mary Wilson. The group were originally know as "The Primettes".

They grew up in Detroit Michagan.

They signed a contract with Motown Records in January of 1961.

In The Supremes biography, it is said they changed their name to the Supremes in 1963.

They had auditioned for Berry Gordy but he said they were to young and lacked experience.

In 1962 Diana Ross became the sole lead singer for the group.

They tried many times to hit the charts but failed until Berry Gordy the founder of Motown Records, asked the composers Holland and Dozier to write the songs for them.

Their hits were, "Baby Love, Stop" and "Come see about me".

Continuing with the Supremes biography, in 1964 they travelled with Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars tour.

In 1964 with the voice of Diana Ross, the results were the song, "Where Did Our Love Go" which became number 1 on the American Hit Charts.

In January 1970, Diana performed for the last time with the Supremes at the Frontier Hotel in Las Vegas, to go on her own.

In June of 1977, The Supremes performed their last concert in London England and the group broke up shortly after.

With Berry Gordy behind her she became a Super Star in the film, "Lady Sings The Blues" in which she played "Billie Holiday".

They made a hit with The Four Tops titled "River Deep Mountain High".

Her alblum titled, "The Boss" in 1979, became her first big sucess and her album later, titled "Diana" in 1980 recorded by Motown Records. became a big hit.

She Played many concerts in Central Park in New York but the biggest and most important concert was in 1983.

In 1984 after twenty years with Motown Records she quit Motown and formed her own company called RTC Management named after her three daughters.

The supremes biography continues, in 1989 she released the CD titled "Workin Overtime".

In 1994 Diana Ross received an award From The Soul Train Music Award.

In 1995 she released the CD titled, "Take me Higher".

The Supremes were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.

In 1999 Diana released the CD titled, "Every Day is a New Day".

In 2000, Diana did a tour with Scherrie Payne and Lynda Laurence the members from when the The Supremes first began to play.

She was also a very good friend of Michael Jackson.

She once said, "When ever I have to make a decision, I still think of what Berry Gordy would have done in the same situation".
