Beginning with Tim McGraw biography history, he was born the first of May, 1967 in Delhi, Louisiana in the United States.

He was raised in Start, Louisiana a struggling farm community and he is the son of Frank Edwin Tug McGraw, who was a relief pitcher for the New York Mets and the Philadelphia, Phillies.

He attended Louisiana State University and studied sports and medicine. He wanted to be like his father, and go into baseball.

He dropped out of University in 1989, and went to live in Nashville, Tennessee.

He taught himself how to play the guitar at eighteen years old, it was at that time he decided that music would be his future instead of sports.

He began by singing in night clubs around Nashville and began to be a popular name around town.

He signed a contract with Curd Records in 1990, but it took at least two more years for him to become a well known country star.
